Student Life In Edinburgh

Whether you’re a first-time student or a seasoned pro, Edinburgh has so much to offer. Life in Edinburgh means being a part of an inspiring city that celebrates art, culture, history and science. It’s also one of the UK’s safest cities and a great place to live. For students, there are plenty of Edinburgh nightclubs, pubs, bars, and restaurants to enjoy.

Location

You’ll have a lot of fun shopping, strolling along cobbled streets and sampling local beers and cocktails.

You can find all of this within easy walking distance of your new digs, thanks to the city’s excellent public transport system. You can also check out one of the largest city parks in the world if you’re into the outdoors. It’s also home to the famous Frankenstein and a host of other interesting attractions.

Living On The Coast

Edinburgh is ranked as one of the world’s top student cities, and it has everything you need to have a great student experience. Whether you want to study in the city centre or out on the coast, there are many options for living in Edinburgh.

The best place to live is a student house or apartment, which are usually located within walking distance of the university campus. Some universities even help students in their second year to find accommodation close to their campuses.

Old Town Edinburgh

Edinburgh’s Old Town is one of the best places in the city to explore. It’s surrounded by beautiful historic buildings and the famous Edinburgh Castle, and it’s packed with must-see sights and attractions.

The city’s medieval plan has survived, with narrow streets called closes and wynds that line the main spine formed by the Royal Mile. This ancient street pattern is a reminder of the city’s medieval glory days, when it was the most populated burgh in Scotland.

New Town Edinburgh

When the 17th century enlightenment began to take hold, Edinburgh’s Old Town was becoming increasingly overcrowded and in need of a more spacious layout. This prompted the Duke of Albany and York, later King James VII, to plan a new ‘New Town’.

Built in the 18th Century, this Georgian ‘New Town’ has wide streets, grand squares and beautiful gardens. It is considered one of the best examples of this architectural style in the world.

Royal Botanic Garden

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is a world-leading centre of excellence in plant science, conservation horticulture and education. It’s also home to one of the UK’s largest and richest plant collections.

With over 70 acres of stunning landscapes and 100,000 plants to explore, the gardens are sure to have something for everyone.
